The Company now operates two distinct business units Vycor Medical and NovaVision which nevertheless have a commonality of objectives; namely to improve patient outcome; address issues that weren’t previously addressable and do so in a minimally invasive manner. The Company has a very significant IP portfolio, with the group as whole having 21 allowed, issued or granted patents and 30 pending patents. Vycor is ISO 13485:2003 compliant, has FDA 510(K) clearance for brain and spine surgeries, CE Marking and HPB licensing in Canada
Vycor Medical is a medical device company that designs, develops and markets medical devices for use in neurosurgery. Vycor's ViewSite Brain Access System™ (VBAS) is 510k cleared and represents a step-change improvement over current technologies for accessing regions within the brain. A single-use product that is compatible with neuro-navigational systems, the VBAS includes an introducer and working channel and is available in multiple sizes.
Several recent articles in peer-reviewed medical journals (Journal of Minimally Invasive Neurosurgery, Feb 2011; Journal of Neurosurgery: Pediatrics, May 2011) have documented the clinical efficacy, superiority and ultimate potential of the VBAS technology.
NovaVision provides FDA-cleared medical devices to provide non invasive, computer based visual neuro stimulation therapy called Vision Restoration Therapy (VRT). VRT is a patient-specific diagnostic and therapeutic platform which is underpinned by strong clinical data. VRT is currently focused on visual deficits resulting from stroke and traumatic brain injury. Over 2,000 patients have been treated with VRT.
NovaVision also provides a device that aids in the early identification of visual field deficits: the Head Mounted Perimeter (HMP™) - a portable and ADA-compliant instrument to aid in the detection and measurement of visual field deficits even in bed-ridden patients.
The company is continually seeking acquisition, joint venture and in-licensing opportunities which will compliment it’s two existing businesses and add significant shareholder value.
